Since one of our friends was ill and couldn't join us, we are thinking of doing the trip over again next year ( but on the upper Shannon or Erne).

Lough Key Forest Park was brilliant, we all loved the zip wires! We loved all the little towns along the route also – although some pubs/ restaurants listed in our guidebook are now closed due to the recession or did not do food in the evening

The specifics of the problem are not important. When you have a product with more than 1000 moving parts and are not in direct control of the product yourself, problems will occur. We had a great time on shannon cruise. It was a little harder than we thought handling the boat coming into moors & locks but was a great experience. We will definitely do it again.
Unfortunately we did have a bump with a lock, luckily we took out collision damage insurance so not too bad, thank god.
